5 Reasons your Double Coated dog needs deshedding before winter begins.
 
Deshedding a double-coated dog before winter sounds counterintuitive (“don’t they need that coat?”), but done properly, it actually helps their coat work the way it’s supposed to.

Here’s why it matters:

1. Keeps the coat insulating properly

Double-coated breeds rely on a balance between the soft undercoat and the outer guard hairs. When dead undercoat builds up, it traps air unevenly and blocks proper insulation.
A proper deshed removes loose, dead hair so the coat can regulate temperature efficiently—keeping your dog warm and dry.
